Sucia Island Cruise
May 3 and 4, 2008
- Eager boaters will start arriving on Thursday, the 1st, to get dock space and do some early socializing, with more arrivals on Friday, and the main contingent on Saturday. Get there when you can! A dock party Friday night, for cocktails and light snacks don’t be bashful about bringing something good.
- We are looking forward to a big turn-out (25 or more boats have shown up the last few years). It is a great cruise for new cruisers, with plenty of help for docking, rafting, grabbing a buoy or anchoring.
- We will all be in Fossil Bay, primarily at the innermost, westernmost dock. There are campsites nearby. This is a family friendly cruise, and Sucia is a family friendly island. Kids or grandkids are welcome.
- Activities include lots of hiking, beach sitting, kite flying, cribbage tournament and napping. Spontaneous activities encouraged.
- The highlight of the weekend, the annual Hawaiian Ugly Shirt Contest, will happen Saturday evening. Bring your best, brightest, or worst, attire. Prizes will be awarded.
- Saturday evening bonfire and BBQ cookout following cocktail hour. Bring your own meat, a passing dish and a hors d'oeuvre. Also your beverage of choice. Plus, a couple of pieces of firewood, if there is room on your boat.
- The tides will be at 0.00 feet at low tide Saturday. There should be adequate water depth at the dock except for really deep drafts (over 7 feet). Sunday morning does become a minus tide so keep this in mind.
- Please notify the Cruise Captain regarding your plans to participate.
