The Anacortes Yacht Club is the second oldest continuously functioning yacht club in Washington State and was formed on July 23, 1891. (The Tacoma Yacht Club was established in 1890). The club continues to this day thanks to the active involvement of its many members. Activities within the Club are cruising, sailboat racing, socializing and volunteer opportunities affording great member interaction.
Many members enjoy the cruising program, which includes day-trips and weekend cruises to the nearby San Juan Islands, as well as longer cruises with destinations as distant as Barkley and Desolation Sound.
Sailing races occur every Wednesday during the summer months in Fidalgo Bay. The Club sponsors the Tulip Regatta, Northern Century Regatta, and the Foul Weather Regatta each year along with all the social activities. Many members participate in regattas held throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle, and various other locations.
Social events include salmon barbecues, crab dinners, chili cook-offs and monthly dinner meetings. The Club is open every Friday at 5:30 and guests accompanying members in good standing are always welcome. General meetings are held nine months of the year with a speaker and a catered dinner. And don't miss the five buck night with meals prepared by club members.
Members of The Anacortes Yacht Club are a diverse group. You won't find a more welcoming gathering of people. From laid back cruising to serious racing, you'll fit right in. Our club reciprocal benefits extend to visiting other yacht clubs and enjoying their facilities. Keep your cards handy as you travel and enjoy the extended benefits of being an AYC member!
