VHF Radio Channels

Your VHF radio has both low and high power settings; unless you are giving a Mayday, please be courteous and use low power when transmitting. Keep your messages short and remember that the whole world is listening.

CHANNELS USED IN WASHINGTON WATERS

05A – Vessel Traffic Service Seattle – Northern Puget Sound
06 – Intership Safety
09 – Intership and Ship-shore all Vessels and Calling and Reply for Pleasure Vessels
13 – Vessel Bridge to Vessel Bridge – Large Vessels – low power
14 – Vessel Traffic Service – Southern Puget Sound
16 – International Distress & Calling Used for distress and urgent traffic. Listen first to make sure no distress traffic is in progress. Do not transmit if a SEELONCE MAYDAY is declared. Keep it short
22 – Coast Guard Liaison – Where the USCG will ask you to go when further discussion is required|
66A- Port Operations- Many marinas in Puget Sound use this frequency
67 – Intership for all vessels (US only)
68 – Intership and ship-shore for pleasure vessels only
69 - Intership and ship-shore for pleasure vessels only
72 – Intership only for all vessels (US only)
78 - Intership and ship-shore for pleasure vessels only

05A – Vessel Traffic Service Seattle – Strait of Juan de Fuca west of Victoria
06-Intership Safety
09- Intership and ship-shore all vessels
11 – Vessel Traffic Service – Victoria –Strait of Jean de Fuca east of Victoria, Haro Strait; Boundary Passsage; Gulf Islands; Southern Straits of Georgia ( Good for Turn Point traffic)
12- Vessel Traffic Service – Vancouver – Vancouver and Howe Sound
16- International Distress & Calling Used for distress and urgent traffic. Listen first to make sure no distress traffic is in progress. Do not transmit if a is declared. Keep it short.
66A- Port operations – most marinas in southern B.C. use this channel
67- Intership and ship-shore
68- Intership and ship-shore for pleasure vessels only
69- Intership and ship-shore for pleasure vessels only
71 – Vessel Traffic Service – Northern Strait of Georgia to Cape Caution
72 – Intership
73 – Intership and ship-shore
74 – Vessel Traffic Service Victoria – Victoria-Fraser River
