SPRING RACING IS HERE!
Hello AYC Racers!
AYC held our Skippers Meeting on March 26th. Many thanks to Jeff Hulme (of OFF CONSTANTLY fame) for preparing a wonderous chili and hotdog ensemble. Good things were discussed, and we had six volunteer crews to find boats to crew on – That is a great start! Many thanks to Jim Bottles for mentioning the importance of sailing safety. AYC racing will include updates of safety procedures and topics throughout the season.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT SERIES
The Spring Series is underway. The first race was sunny and warm. 10kts of breeze and a terrific start to the 2025 season. Team THOR (Art and Trish Hebert) prepared a sumptuous enchilada meal, with chicken and vegetarian options. Both were delicious! We have until May 7th to determine the winner of the Spring Series.
The Solstice Series begins May 14th.
DISTANCE RACE SERIES
The CENTER STRAITS Series is well and truly underway. Can anybody catch Trevor & Dustin on Team CHIMERA? - Winning two bullets in back-to-back races, 1st in LAWSON REEF and 1st in The Doug Fryer Memorial SMITH ISLAND.
John Gunn, Lil ANNIE, was 2nd in Lawson Reef, and Jeff Hulme, OFF CONSTANTLY got 2nd on Smith Island race. Tip of the hat to SONRISA and BLACK ARROW. Who are still in the mix! The third and final race in this series is the DAVIDSON ROCK (RUM RACE) April 26th. Let’s see you out on the line.
Racers don’t forget to turn in your times to Frank Parker, even if things don’t work out as planned, it is important to report halfway times, and if you retire or DNF.
